The Board approves both the curriculum and the resources that go with it. However, sometimes extra resources, which were not part of the original approval, are being used in classrooms. These extra resources should be reviewed and approved by the superintendent. The problem is that these resources often don’t get checked by the superintendent, and a lot of unapproved materials are being used without proper oversight or accountability. This policy is designed to fix that issue.
The New Policy would do the following…
- Make mandatory approval of supplemental resources before use
- Create accountability through required documentation
- Make supplemental resources available to the parents for review
- Makes sure supplemental resources are with in the budget
- Creates an current events section for quick approvals for things that are happening now
